Calming the Storm

“Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’ He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the wind and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

-Matthew 8:23-27

Like the waves that were sweeping over the boat, there come certain situations that can overwhelm us and overtake our lives. But just as Jesus calmed the storm over the lake between Capernaum and Gadarenes, he can calm the storm in your life. Whether it’s financial, emotional, or physical hardship, He will cast it away when the time is right. He wants us to grow in our faith. As seen in James 1:2-4, hardship helps our faith and perseverance grow so we can be prepared for enemy attacks. He wants us to see our worth and His grace. Everything is done according to His will. His will is not His will because it has been justified, but rather it is justified because He has willed it.

“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

-Mark 10:27
